The purpose of the article is to identify and study the place and role of ministries as subjects of state power, which are directly or indirectly entrusted to the legislator and aimed at the formation and implementation of state family policy, which will give an opportunity to understand in what directions it is necessary to implement the state family policy. The article deals with the bodies of state power which are directly aimed at the formation and implementation of family policy (Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine) or indirectly ensure its implementation (separate ministries and other executive bodies). However, the Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine, which is built on the functional principle, focuses mainly on social support measures for families. In this regard, the author of the article proposes a return to the practice of functioning of the single central authorized body for family, children and youth. The study found that such a category as young people is not included in the mandate of the Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine, so we can state that there is no policy in Ukraine that would be aimed at the young family. In connection with this, there is an urgent need to legislate the family as an object of the state family policy, or as a separate direction of the state – the state youth family policy. The bodies of state power, whose activities are indirectly aimed at the formation and implementation of family policy, includes a number of ministries and other authorities. With their participation, comprehensive measures have been developed and implemented to ensure family policy – preservation of traditional family values, strengthening motivation for registration of marriages, conscious birth and upbringing of children, as well as increasing social protection of families in difficult living conditions, prevention of domestic violence, Overcoming child homelessness, preventing offenses among children and youth, etc. It was proved that as a result of a large number of subjects of ensuring the state family policy, there was a dispersal of functions between different central executive bodies.
